Parth, M.D., DM & Neurologist

My name is Parth.  I am an M.D., DM, and a neurologist at a hospital, and I have my own neurology clinic in India.  I must begin this story with this memorable quotation:

“Find the teacher, serve him as a child, open your heart to his influence, see in him God manifested” – a quote by the great saint Swami Vivekananda.  It perfectly fits Lee Lovett, better known as “Coach Lee” to his students.  He and his team of ex-stuttering students have created a charity, World Stop Stuttering Association/WSSA, which is funded largely by Lee.  WSSA is now transforming the lives of millions of people who stammered, including me, a medical doctor and a Neurologist.

I came across WSSA while googling in April 2024 as I was so frustrated with my speech and my level of confidence in communication. I emailed him, although I was not expecting a reply back. To my surprise, Coach Lee replied and agreed on helping me deal with this devil.

I began stammering when I was 13 or so years old. My worst stuttering was when speaking to authorities and when addressing gatherings.  Stage fear then loomed over me.

I excelled in my education, attained the highest medical degree in India and became a Neurologist — but my stammering always kept hovering over my subconscious mind and prevented me from becoming the confident person that I knew I could surely become and it continued to cause me to appear speech disabled at the most crucial times.

Taking sessions with Coach Lee since April, it took me around 6 months to become PWSS. I lost confidence in between these sessions due to some bad incidents. I even stopped replying to Coach Lee in between but he kept pushing me and never lost faith in me. The more that I read aloud and talked in my stutter free zones, the easier it became to use a “Crutch” or “Speech Plan” when needed.  I cemented these victories in to my mind by doing daily mind-training, the so-appealing neurological, holistic parts of WSSA’s program.

In addition to no longer appearing to be speech disabled, very gradually, I began to teach myself to speak without planning words or fearing them.  I am now working on learning to love to speak even under the most pressure.

I can say with full confidence that I am a changed man now. I deliver health talks, converse with anyone and most importantly I have gained that self-esteem and willingness to speak my heart out that was subdued earlier.

My thousand salutes to Lee’s sheer passion and dedication and to the Neuroscience-based program that has resulted and is now offered to all via the charity, World Stop Stuttering Association!  The program is indeed grounded in neurological methods.

Keep doing the virtuous work that you are doing Coach Lee.

May your work keep inspiring and transforming lives of people for millions of years.

I could write on and on, but will conclude simply by saying “Jug Jug Jiyo”, a famous Indian slang meaning “May you live for ages”
