I’m Christian. I’m 25 and I live in Texas. I began stuttering in my teens. It was very severe then, and I had quite a bit of therapy in my school years, but it didn’t make much difference.
By my twenties, the problem has lessened, I think mainly because I avoided talking. It was funny. The less I talked the easier talking was. In my job, I didn’t need to talk much at that time. There was still a problem though. When I had to talk, especially to authority figures or groups I still stuttered noticeably.
A friend told me about Lee’s stuttering book in 2019, and I loved it. I joined Speech Anxiety Cures and watched some of their very helpful videos. Lee and I exchanged quite a few emails and we Skyped a bit. His approach made so much sense. I began using some of the Crutches. In time, I just focused on C13, no crutch at all, not planning words.
I can’t remember the last time I appeared speech disabled. Some say that stuttering can’t be stopped but that just isn’t true. I hope that you won’t buy into that nonsense.
